Decleration of the EITI NGO Coalition of Azerbaijan
The NGO Coalition of Azerbaijan for "Improving Transparency in Extractive Industries" readily accepts the Decree of the US Senate dated July 15 on the "Disclosure of Payments of Extractive Companies Registered at US Securities and Exchange Commissions on Payments to Local Governments". This decision necessiates a disagregated reporting system by several extractive companies in Azerbaijan and will lead to a more clear structure of revenues from this sector.
The law “About Oil Fund” has been represented to the society
Public Unions’ Coalition for Improving Transparency in Extractive Industry (EITI) holds appropriate project on preparation of the Law project “About Oil Fund”. The main goals of the project are popularizing of mentioned idea and to represent it to discussions of the Parliament.
NGO Coalition achieved inclusion of several important issues into EITI workplan
February 4, 2010 Multistakeholder Group on EITI in Azerbaijan held its first meeting. The meeting agenda included review of NGO Coalition on 11th EITI report, approval of EITI work plan for 2010 and selection of Audit Company for next reporting period. The very fact that a work plan was discussed in details, made this meeting particularly important. Initial draft sent by the Government Commission included just one issue – EITI reports and selection of audit company.
Public discussion of Draft Law about State Oil Fund of Azerbaijan Republic (SOFAZ) has been held
According to information service of EITI Coalition, author of the draft law and Coalition Council member Alimammad Nuriyev gave broaden information about principles given on the document. STATEMENT by the EITI Coalition of civil society institutions on the (11th) the six-monthly Report of 2009
The six-monthly report (11th report) of the Commission on the Extractive Industries Transparency Initiative in the Azerbaijan Republic that was finalized on June 30, 2009 and Independent Accountant’s Opinion (“Moore Stephence”) was presented to the general public and parties of the Memorandum of Understanding at a joint meeting of MoU parties on 14th December, 2009.

A two-day regional meeting held at Crescent Beach Hotel in Baku by Economic Research Center and with organizational support of NGO Coalition for Improving Transparency in Extractive Industry and funding support from East-East program of SOROS Foundation and Open Society Institute-Assistance Foundation completed its work.

Round-table has been held with participation of EITI Board members
A round-table has been held with participation of members of EITI International Board and Memorandum parties-representatives of government, companies and NGOs on 15 October at Landmark Hotel, Baku. The first speech was made by Chair of Government Commission on EITI and executive director of SOFAZ Shahmar Movsumov, he spoke about achieved successes on EITI in Azerbaijan.
EITI Committee holds meeting
A meeting of the Committee on implementation of Extractive Industries Transparency Initiative (EITI) in Azerbaijan presided over by Shahmar Movsumov, Chairman of the Committee and the Executive Director of the State Oil Fund, was held on September 15, 2009. Shahmar Movsumov updated the members of the Committee on latest developments of EITI implementation.

International Transparency Initiative appraisal process and it execution in Azerbaijan
Azerbaijan received full-right country status related to Initiative in the conference dedicated to International Output Industry Transparency Initiative which was held in Qatar, Doha February 16-18. Thus, between 25 candidate countries Azerbaijan was the first to be approved as a full-right country status.
AZERBAIJAN STARTS EXPORTING GOLD
Now, Azerbaijan should be following not only oil, but also gold prices in the market. Beginning from July 21, Azerbaijan started gold exportation to world markets. 36 kg of gold sent to Switzerland for preliminary processing extracted from “Gadabay” mine. The exportation will grow to 120kg per month, in the future.
Exclusive notification from the EITI International Secretariat to the "Transparency" Magazine
Ordinary meeting of the EITI International Management Board is planned to be held in Baku on October 14-15. We addressed to Mr. Peter Eigen, the Chairman of the EITI Management Board for the purpose of gaining responses regarding the matters to be discussed in the meeting, influence of this event on the EITI process, fulfillment of the obligations of Azerbaijan within the frames of the initiative and other issues.
