General Meeting of EITI Coalition#9 (07/03/2007)
Coalition’s 9th General Meeting had been held. 66 Coalition members took part in the meeting. Discussed issues:- to organize coalition’s activity for 2007 year, and later for 2009 year;- to discuss the documents that balance coalition’s and its bodies(Council, Monitoring Group) activity, improving and preparing new  documents;- to continue actions that embody in the memorandum(5th report on EITI and to prepare an alternative opinion to audit opinion);- correspondence with donor organizations and to conduct  negotiations;- to complete specifying of coalition members and admitting new members;- to strengthen relations with an international and regional associates.

Coalition’s 9th General Meeting had been held. 66 Coalition members took part in the meeting. Discussed issues;- done works and fulfillment of decisions: Council Coordinator Gubad Ibadoglu informed about done works since 8th meeting. He notified that the Council was mainly engaged in following activities in this period:

  • to organize coalition’s activity for 2007 year, and later for 2009 year;

  • to discuss the documents that balance coalition’s and its bodies(Council, Monitoring Group) activity, improving and preparing new  documents;

  • to continue actions that embody in the memorandum(5th report on EITI and to prepare an alternative opinion to audit opinion);

  • Correspondence with donor organizations and to conduct  negotiations;

  • to complete specifying of coalition members and admitting new members;

  • to strengthen relations with an international and regional associates;

The Council in its periodical meetings had discussed several important and current issues and made appropriate decisions.

  • discussion of additions and changes to the Coalition’ regulation;

Additions and amendments were affirmed and the Regulation was admitted entirely.

  • Discussion of strategic plan project for 2007-2009 years;

Coalition’s Strategic Plan for 2007-2009 year was discussed and admitted entirely. It was decided that, work on this document must be keep on constantly by the Council.

  • discussion of Monitoring Group’s report and Regulation project;

Monitoring Group’s report was listened. Coalition members had widely discussed the report. Strengthening of MG’s activity was considered as one of the main problems. In this purpose, there was decided affirmation of MG’s Regulation and raising members’ number. Coalition members Ruhangiz Huseynova and Azer Mehtiyev had been selected to the MG by confidential voting.

  • discussion of ethic codex;

EITI Coalition member’s ethic codex had been discussed. Paper was admitted with some additions and amendments.

  • current issues;

Meeting members objected to illegal arrest of Global Witness’s representative Sarah Wakes in Angola and declared that they join to international community’ s demands immediately release her.

In accordance with changes to Coalition’s Regulation, “Support alliance to transparency initiative in extractive industry” that was established in Ganja, had attained EITI Coalition’s Ganja regional section status. In compliance with regulation, section’s representative, member of EITI Coalition Aslan Valiyev was selected to Coalition Council.

Establishing of Coalition Press Department was decided.

In occasion with three year of establishing of Coalition in 13th of May, to prepare events plan and implementation had been entrust to the Council.
