Public Campaign "Oil revenues for all of us!"

Actions taken on October 02- October 09

October 3:

1)A radio program within the framework of "Oil problems" radio-dialogue was demonstrated on Antenn 101 FM radio channel by the "Inam" Pluralism Center, member of the NGOs Coalition. Azer Mehtiyev, member of the Coalition replied to questions of radio listeners concerning "Possible economic dangerous of huge oil revenues".

2)A round table was held in Sumgayit with the participation of students of the Sumgayit State Medical College and Sumgayit Technical College and representatives of the local non-governmental organizations. Ogtay Gulaliyev, member of the Coalition Council, Shamil Movsumov and Mahammad Talibli, members of the Coalition and Aydin Nasibov, representative of the International Eco-energy Academy attended the event. Movsumov was a chairman of the event. Talibli made a speech on the common principles of the Extractive Industry Transparency Initiative. He informed participants about EITI, Azerbaijan's participation in this Initiative, establishment of the NGOs Coalition foe ITEI, oil contracts, State Oil Fund (SOFAZ) and etc. Gulaliyev spoke about the aims of "Oil revenues are for all of us" campaign.

Matanat Zeynalova, chairwoman of "Our City" Social Development Center, Ramin Suleymanov, chairman of the Democratic Youths Public Union and Mammad Eyvazov, trainer of "Potential" Sumgayit Specialists Union also made a speech. Speakers offered to hold special important events in a state level to inform aged population about significance of oil revenues, to deliver materials about "Oil revenues are for all of us" campaign to the public and to organize one more meeting for the youths o Sumgayit. Arif Hasanov, member of the Community Committee of the Sumgayit Municipality supported the events held for informing of various stratas of the population and thanked to the Coalition members on behalf of the participants.

October 7:

3)A meeting with the representatives of political parties, youths, intellectuals and city community was organized in Lankaran. Opening the event Mahammad Talibli, member of the Coalition, informed participants about the aim of the event. Ogtay Gulaliyev, member of the Coalition Council, spoke about the campaign, the Extractive Industry Transparency Initiative and works fulfilled by the Coalition in this direction. Mayis Gulaliyev, member of the Coalition, made a speech on "Transparency of oil revenues and development of communities" and stressed the importance to direct oil revenues to the development of communities. He also spoke about ecological problems created by foreign oil companies and said that that important measures must be taken in this sphere. Relying to the questions of participants, members of the ITEI Coalition called them to demonstrate the position of active citizen for usefully and transparently management of oil revenues.

Members of the Coalition Ogtay Gulaliyev, Mayis Gulaliyev, Shamil Movsumov, Muhammed Talibli, Azer Mehtiyev, Vahid Gazi took an active part in the above mentioned actions.

The participiants of the events were delivered books, posters and calendars by the Coalition.
