Public Campaign "Oil revenues for all of us"

September 18- October 17 , 2006

Actions taken on 18-24 September

September 18:

  1. Having held a press conference at the International Press Center, representatives of the Coalition spoke about the necessity of holding campaign and actions planned to be taken within campaign.

  2. One hour talk show was demonstrated on Public TV channel. There were discussions about efficient use of oil revenues at the talk show. Vahid Ahmedov, Member of the Milli Mejlis (Parliament) and the representatives of the Coalition Ingilab Ahmedov, Mayis Gulaliyev, Fagan Aliyev and Sabit Bagirov took part in the talk show

  3. Member of the Coalition Council Ogtay Guleliyev took part in a dialogue program on Radio "Azadlig" ("Freedom") and gave detailed information about the campaign to the listeners.

September 19:

  1. A round table -one of the first events of the campaign "Oil Revenues Belong to Everybody" was held for the public representatives in Siyezen. The member of the Coalition Shamil Movsumov made a report at the round table. In the meeting, where more than 50 people took part, was spoken about the Transparency Initiative and joining of Azerbaijan to it, establishing of the Coalition, the aim of the campaign and its necessity, oil contracts and Oil Fund.

  2. The member of the Coalition Council Ingilab Ahmedov answered the questions of the radio reporter and listeners about oil revenues in a radio "Antenn" program

  3. A media-forum was held in the editorial office of "Azadlig" newspaper. The members of the Coalition Council Telman Zeynalov and Ilham Huseynli answered the questions of the journalists.

September 20:

  1. A conference was held at "Khazar" University. The topic of the conference was "Oil factor and revenues, complications, future opportunities and risks that concerned with it" Teachers and students getting education on oil and economy specialities attended the conference. It was mentioned at the conference that the NGO Coalition would mainly focus its attention on ensuring of transparency in spending of oil revenues. The participiants were informed about the projects carried out in oil sector, about State Oil Fund and also about hazards which our country can be faced.

  2. A round table was held in Nakhchevan. The subject of the round table was "Oil factor and revenues, complications, future opportunities and risks that concerned with it". 30 representatives of NGOs and intelligentzia took part in the conference. Muhammed Talibli made a report.

September 21:

  1. A conference was held in Azerbaijan University. The main subject of the conference was "Social and economical importance of BTC". The member of the Coalition Council Gubad Ibadoglu made a report at the conference. The university governing body, teachers and students participated in the conference.

September 22:

  1. A conference on the subject of "International Transparency Initiatives and Azerbaijan" were held in Ganja Technology University. University governing body, teachers and students participated in the conference. The member of the Coalition Council Sabit Bagirov made a report.

  2. In the same day the meeting with public society representatives was held in Ganja. The members of the Coalition spoke about the history and importance of the Extractive Industry Transparency Initiative, also about the implementation work carried out by the Government and EITI Coalition as the representative of civil society. Scholars, teachers , students and public society and media representatives took part at that meeting. Sabit Bagirov, Coalition Council member made a report

  3. A media forum in the presence of local journalists was held in the editorial office of the newspaper "The Voice of Ganja". Sabit Bagirov, Coalition Council member answered the questions of the journalists.

  4. A round table was held on the subject of "The delay of SOCAR (State Oil Company) audit and public discussion of the state of transparency in the activity of the company". The experts, representatives of international and some state organizations and media took part in the conference. Member of the Coalition Zohrab Ismayilli and member of the Coalition Counsil Mirvari Gahramanli made reports at the round table. The representatives of Audits Chamber and Open Society Institute Assistance Foundation spoke at the conference, too.

Other members of the Coalition took an active part in the above mentioned actions, too. They are : Sevgim Rahmanov, Nariman Agayev, Mehriban Vezir, Dunya Sakit, Ehtiram Ali, Fuad Resulov, Fegan Aliyev, Nadir Ibadov, Ruhangiz Huseynova, Aslan Valiyev, Eyyub Karimli, Mirvari Gahramanli, Vahid Gazi, Aydin Nasibov, Ilgar Veliyev.

The participiants of the events were delivered books, posters and calendars by the Coalition.
